1. Find the resistance
of the specific capacitor at the applied frequency on the impedance vs.
frequency curve (check here).
If unknown, use 1kHz ESR.
2a. If temperature rise
is desired, multiply the square of the rms ripple current value by the
resistance to find power dissipation. Use the chart of
Temperature Rise vs. Power Dissipation to look up the temperature rise.
2b. If ripple current
is desired, use the chart of Temperature Rise vs. Power
Dissipation to look up power dissipation at temperature rise and
take the square root of the quantity power/resistance to give current.
